Restylane® Silk

Restylane Silk

Restylane Silk is the first and only lip enhancement product that is FDA approved.  It is specifically designed for the lips as a filler and for smoothing the wrinkles around the mouth in patients who are over 21 years of age. Dr. Ryan E. Dodde, II may recommend Restylane Silk to patients from the Holland, Grand Rapids, Muskegon or surrounding areas.

What is Restylane Silk?

As we age, like any other part of the body, the lips lose their shape, thin out and get vertical lines. Restylane Silk is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler used for lip enhancement and to correct lines around the mouth.  Restylane Silk is designed specifically to provide natural-looking results in these particular areas by using smaller, smoother particles along with an ultrafine needle resulting in softer, precise results.

Am I a good candidate for it?

Patients looking for fuller and smoother lips can benefit from Restylane Silk. Those with allergies to gram-positive bacterial proteins or have a known allergy to lidocaine should not use Restylane Silk. Restylane Silk should not be used by patients with bleeding disorders, under the age of 22, or by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.  Use at the site of skin sores, pimples, rashes, hives, cysts, or infection should be postponed until healing is complete.

What can I expect from Restylane Silk?

You can get fuller lips, reduced lines and a natural looking smile with Restylane Silk. The small and smooth particles in Restylane Silk provide natural looking results. A clinical study reported that 98% of patients reported a visible improvement in lip fullness 14 days after injection. 76% of patients still had lip improvement six months following injection.

How long is the recovery period?

After treatment, you might have some temporary swelling, redness, pain, bruising, or tenderness.  Swelling may be more likely in patients under 36 years, and bruising may be more likely in patients over 35 years.  This is typically mild in severity and normally lasts less than 14 days in lips.
