What is Microneedling?
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a nonsurgical treatment done to prevent and treat common signs of aging. It works by creating micro-wounds in the skin with a special microneedling device, which stimulates the production of collagen in the skin for a more youthful complexion. This treatment can be used on many areas of the body, including the face, neck, chest, arms, and more.
Microneedling can address the following skin issues:
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Sun damage and discoloration
• Loose skin
• Large pores
• Stretch marks
• Acne scarring
Who is a Good Candidate for Microneedling?
Healthy individuals who wish to improve the appearance of their complexion are often good candidates for this treatment. If you are interested in this treatment, a consultation with our team is the first step to determine your candidacy.
What to Expect during your Microneedling Treatment
During your microneedling treatment, a topical numbing cream will first be applied to the treatment area. Then, Jenise, our esthetician, will move the microneedling device across your skin, creating micro-wounds in the skin to stimulate collagen production. The microneedling treatment should not be painful, though some might feel slight discomfort. The length of treatment will depend on the size of the treatment area.
Results and Recovery
Following your microneedling treatment, there is no downtime needed, however, mild redness and scabbing may occur for 2-4 days. Be sure to avoid putting on makeup a few days after treatment, as well as avoid long periods of time in the sun.
The number of microneedling sessions needed will depend on the skin condition being treated, which can be discussed during your consultation.
